Fair Parade

Well, we managed to make it to the Fair Parade this year! My friend, Nancy, offered for us to come sit with them - they usually just sit in the back of her truck, so there would be plenty of room - but, she couldn't get down there to park like she usually does & decided just to get their chairs out & sit on the sidewalk. For the record, we own 1 of those collapsible chairs - not 3 - & I honestly didn't even think to bring it, so - thanks *Leslie* for letting my child sit on your lap through the whole parade! We did get a surprise that Kiki & her mom were also sitting with Nance & the gang, so that was nice :) The weather was WONDERFUL!! It was a very nice day to have a parade, if I do say so myself! Here are some highlights:

Last year we sat in a more open area (not surrounded by all the buildings) & everyone got to blow their sirens, play their music really loud, the bands were in full swing, the whole nine yards....apparently there's a restriction on all that when you sit in between all the buildings - it was kinda junky not to have all the bells & whistles!

Ava did enjoy waving at everyone that went by, though!

Oh, I also forgot to bring her sunglasses, so she improvised :)

She did enjoy seeing the tractors - even if they weren't honking their horns & weaving in & out like they usually do!

Oh - here's the marching band! The train came through when the VHS band was right in front of us - I was getting all excited that we'd get to hear a song! Um, negative...they were told to just "relax" as the train went by...who's runnin' that show anyways?! Someone give me his number so I can inform him what to do when the train is coming through during a parade...

Oh, good ole' Mr. Floss & Gloss! This was one of the only "show cars" in the parade - back in the day, "show cars" were a big part of the parade & was what some people came to the parade to see! Who might come to the parade just to see "show cars", you say?!

Well, D.Might, that's who!! After being absent from Fair Parade events the last 18 years, he felt it necessary to come to the Parade with us this year! Woo-hoo! He also didn't fail to point out how junky it was...I must agree, though. The theme was "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" & people pulling wagons & pushing strollers as floats just doesn't cut it! The horses are always the last thing to come through & we were already on our way back to the Tahoe (I can't stand traffic - whatsoever). It was good though, because Ava didn't understand that she couldn't get up there & ride them! Yay for the Fair Parade extravaganza!
